the not so desperate housewife

What do housewives do all day? It is one of life's mysteries, and the only ones privy to the truth are the ladies themselves. For the November 2011 issue of Harper's BAZAAR Australia photographer Simon Lekias and stylist Jillian Davison imagined what life as a housewife is like: slinking about the living room wearing Mary Katrantzou, Dolce & Gabbana and jewellery by Boucheron and Bulgari, reading the morning papers in the nude, sexily napping on the couch... Miranda Kerr brings their vision to life.

a day out, inside..

Jimmy wears vintage jewellery, thrifted vest, Nobody jeans & American Apparel t-shirt
Jessica wears Country Road boots, American Apparel socks, vintage dress & Ray Ban glasses

Jim and I decided to go on an outing to the carousel in Geelong for a shoot in the pouring and windy rain. As horrible as it was outside, it was really beautiful inside with amazing lighting, views of the rain over the ocean and the fact that we were dry whilst others were soaked! Winter weather is good when inside but we are ready for summer fun!

Mop these up..

You know a pair of Karen Walker sunglasses when you see a pair of Karen Walker sunglasses. That same rule applies to a Karen Walker lookbook. Much like the sunglasses themselves, the campaigns are always day-glo bright, strong shapes are stunningly realised and the result leaves you wanting to splurge for a few pairs each season.

Again, similar rules apply to Walker's latest Summer 11/12 installment, dubbed Brand New Critters. The result? Mops and brooms - so hot right now. The collection combines the holy-trinity of functionality, style and maximum UV protection, riffing on familiar Walker-esque lenses with some entirely new shapes thrown into the mix (bunny ears!). Prepare to be swept away.

Pippy Long Stockings

Stockings from Sportsgirl, dress made by Jimmy, Vintage Cardigan/Turban, Jewellery from Diva

As spring time has sorta hit melbourne, so has the floral prints and mini sun dresses (not yet warm enough to wear without a jacket but its better than nothing)!! The best thing about this weather however is you can still wear long stockings (probably my favourite item from winter) and be warm whilst sporting something short and springy. This dress is actually one of my fav's for spring and it was made by the one and only Jimmy Vo for school. I am very excited for him to finish as I have designed many others for him to make up for me for summer (he doesn't know it yet but he is going to be very busy)!!!

Jimmys amazing projects for school!

It's sort of been insane at the VO household!! But thing have settled down now and we are back on track so stay tuned a bursts of posts as there are a lot built up!!

a touch of gold

Santigold (born Santi White on September 25, 1976) is a musician, songwriter and producer from Philadelphia who formerly went under the stage name Santogold. She is perhaps best known for the song L.E.S. Artistes which became a hit in the UK and on American alternative radio. According to Songfacts, she was originally nicknamed “Santogold” by a classmate back in the 1980s because of her sister-girl style. In February 2009, she officially changed her stage name to Santigold as a result of infomercial jeweler Santo Gold threatening legal action against White and her label Downtown Records.

White was lead singer of the Philadelphia-based punk rock band Stiffed, but while in the band, she was offered a solo contract. Working with fellow Stiffed member John Hill as co-producer, she recorded her debut album, Santogold, which was released in April 2008. Upon the change of her stage name, her label Downtown Records issued this press release:

“Change the graffiti on the bathroom wall, get your tattoo fixed, get your T-shirt airbrushed and change the name on your year-end list: Santogold is now Santigold. She’s not telling you why, that’s just how it is.”

She oozes cool and is amazing live. She’s coming up playing Parklife, get your tickets while their still going. Fingers crossed we’ll get to meet her backstage for an interview!!!

That's a smore´..

So firstly our apologies for being absent for a while as we've been crazy busy with things happening! We cant believe how much the blog has taken off and the amazing opportunities that have come up since, but more on that as it all unfolds! But a MASSIVE thanks to every single follower for making all of this possible!!

The above shoot was shot by Reuben Johnson and make up done by Joereina N at our house whilst making the "totally american" smors. It was heaps of fun and super messy but the end result was delicious (and even the prep for it).
